Vantaa-based Tamron is a health technology company that manufactures precision devices for medical diagnostics, among other things. The company's 1,100 square meter production hall manufactures sensitive components whose production process requires efficient and consistent heat management.
“Our heating costs had increased significantly in recent years,” says Tamro’s production director. “The increase in electricity prices and the inefficiency of the production hall’s electric heating were putting an even greater strain on us. In the winter, heating costs became significantly higher.”
The production hall was heated with electric heating systems, which were inefficient and expensive.
“We wanted a solution that would not only reduce our heating costs, but also improve the thermal conditions of our entire production environment,” the production director continues.
Environmental responsibility and reducing emissions had become strategic goals for the company, and management was looking for effective ways to improve energy efficiency.
Renewen carried out a comprehensive heat usage analysis for the production facilities.
“We designed a system that also utilizes the waste heat generated efficiently for heating,” says Renewe’s contracting manager.Industrial heat pumps enable heating and reuse in a way that significantly improves energy efficiency.”
Renewe installed two industrial heat pumps in the production hall, which collect energy from the outside air and efficiently transfer it to the production space using convectors.
“As a bonus, we noticed that the system also handles summer cooling effectively,” adds the production director.
The results related to heating have exceeded the original calculation estimates.
“Our heating costs have decreased by 62 percent compared to previous heating. This is a significant saving. At the same time, we have significantly reduced our CO2 emissions and carbon footprint.”
Another big advantage of the system is more even and efficient heat distribution throughout the production space.
“The temperature in our production facility is now even and controlled. Even in winter, all the facilities are equally warm, which has improved both working conditions and production efficiency. In addition, cooling was a bonus, which we didn't know we needed before, now that the indoor air is cooler and drier in the summer, it would be hard to give this up.”
The industrial heat pump solution has proven to be an excellent investment with a payback period of approximately 4-5 years.

“The investment decision was ultimately easy. The heating efficiency calculations proved to be accurate, and the savings brought by the system have even exceeded our expectations.”
