The new directive introduces clear time limits for the deployment of solar energy:

New construction

• 2026: Finland's legislation to be updated
• 2029: Solar panels mandatory for new residential buildings
• Planning and connection processes must be smooth

Public buildings

• 2026: All new public buildings
• 2030: All public buildings over 250m²

Private non-residential buildings

• 2028: Buildings over 500m² in connection with renovations
• This applies especially to roof and other major renovations.
