Solar panels

A solar panel works by converting sunlight into electricity using photoelectric cells, or photovoltaic cells. When light hits the surface of the cell, direct current is generated, which is directed through an inverter to the property's electrical grid. The system works automatically as soon as there is enough sunlight on the surface of the panel.

Solar panels are a profitable investment when electricity is consumed during the day and the system is properly sized. Savings are especially significant when the electricity produced can be used directly for your own consumption. The payback period typically varies between 6 and 12 years, and the system's service life often exceeds 25 years.

Oversizing may be justified if electricity consumption/price increases in the future, for example due to electric cars, heat pumps or battery packs. On the other hand, excessive oversizing may result in some of the electricity produced not being utilized. Sizing should be done based on current consumption and future needs.
