Solar power plants

In Finland, solar power plants operate very well from spring to autumn. Although production is lower in winter, the annual yield is still significant, especially in southern Finland. The cool climate improves the efficiency of the panels, and the long summer days enable a high overall yield. Surplus electricity sold to the grid and available subsidies also improve the profitability of the investment.

A solar power plant is usually a large-scale photovoltaic system consisting of several hundred or even thousands of solar panels. It is usually intended for industrial use or for the production of electricity to be fed into the grid. Power plants are often also built as ground installations and connected to the electricity grid with a high power output.

The yield of a solar power plant varies depending on location, orientation and system size. In Finland, a well-located system produces approximately 750–850 kWh of electricity per year per installed kilowatt. For example, a small 6 kWp power plant can produce approximately 4,000–5,000 kWh of electricity annually.
