Typical locations include commercial and office buildings, grocery stores, shopping centers and business premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>There are exceptions to this obligation, such as:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Residential buildings where more than half of the floor area is for residential use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buildings without heating or cooling (e.g. cold storage)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Defence Administration buildings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Micro-enterprises where both the owner and user are micro-enterprises (less than 10 employees and turnover less than 2 M\u20ac\/year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Exceptional situations are often considered on a case-by-case basis. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.traficom.fi\/fi\/latauspisteen-asentamisvelvoite\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Traficom<\/a><\/strong> You can use the charging obligation calculator to assess whether your property is covered by the requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What kind of charging point meets the requirements?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An approved charging point must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be intended for charging electric cars<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be at least 3.7kW in power<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>includes Type2 or CCS connector, depending on the device<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>alternatively, it may be a public charging point that meets the requirements of the law<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There has been surprisingly little communication about the obligation, and many companies may only wake up to it too late. Traficom has announced that it will start monitoring at the beginning of 2025, and there will be no additional time for delays.
