But where will the market and technology develop in 2025?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Renewe, we closely follow the solar market with over 25 years of experience, and we want to share our insights on which trends will really influence the decisions of both property owners and industry professionals this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">East\u2013west installation is rising strongly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Traditionally <a href=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/en\/tuotteet\/aurinkopaneelit\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/tuotteet\/aurinkopaneelit\/\">solar panels<\/a> is installed facing south, but more and more housing companies and single-family homes are utilizing east-west installation \u2013 and for good reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cEast-west installation offers longer production time and more consistent energy output\u201d<\/em>, says Renewe&#039;s project manager Ville Nieminen. <em>\u201cThe panels operate efficiently from morning to night, and production better coincides with the daily consumption peaks.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Practical benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Longer production time<\/strong>: Energy is generated more evenly from morning to evening<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Better self-use rate<\/strong>: Production and consumption are better aligned<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cost-effectiveness<\/strong>: Lower installation costs and smarter use of space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fewer shading problems<\/strong>: The panels do not shade each other<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ville Nieminen has tested the east-west installation in several Renewe implementations: <em>&quot;The results speak for themselves \u2013 we get stable daily production and satisfied customers. This works especially well in housing associations and flat roofs, where consumption is constant throughout the day.&quot;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Microinverters: safety, flexibility, power<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/en\/tuotteet\/invertterit\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/tuotteet\/invertterit\/\">Microinverters<\/a> i.e. panel-specific inverters are one of the most significant emerging trends of 2025. They offer a completely new kind of controllability and safety for solar power systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The power of each panel is optimized individually<\/strong> \u2013 shading in one panel does not affect the others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Improved security<\/strong> \u2013 possibility to turn off power from an individual panel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Detailed tracking<\/strong> \u2013 you can see exactly how each panel works<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Easier maintenance<\/strong> \u2013 problems are identified quickly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cMicroinverters open doors to more challenging installations and improve system flexibility\u201d<\/em>, says Ville Nieminen. <em>\u201cFor example, in housing complexes where there are air conditioners or other shading structures on the roof, microinverters make the installation significantly more profitable.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mika Aaltonen, energy designer at Renewe, adds: <em>\u201cMicroinverters are also great for phased projects. You can start with a few panel groups and easily expand the system later.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Energy storage systems are integrated intelligently<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Battery solutions are gaining popularity in Finland. Currently, about a fifth of renewable solar projects are built with batteries \u2013 a number that could double in a short time. In 2025, the focus will shift from simple storage to smart energy management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cCustomers have understood that just <a href=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/en\/tuotteet\/aurinkovoimalat\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/tuotteet\/aurinkovoimalat\/\">solar power plant<\/a> not necessarily always sufficient for optimal utilization\u201d<\/em>, says Mika Aaltonen. <em>\u201cThey want systems that automatically direct energy exactly where it is needed \u2013<\/em> <em>here are the smart ones <a href=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/en\/tuotteet\/akustot\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/tuotteet\/akustot\/\">batteries <\/a>will come to help.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Housing companies are increasingly seeking comprehensive solutions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A significant change is taking place in the housing company market. Instead of individual solar power systems, more and more housing companies are looking for comprehensive solutions that serve the entire property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201d&quot;\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/en\/taloyhtioille\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/taloyhtioille\/\">Housing companies<\/a> understand that solar power can significantly reduce utility bills\u201d<\/em>, says Ville Nieminen. <em>\u201cAt the same time, it increases the value of the property and improves energy efficiency.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special needs of housing companies in 2025:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Charging infrastructure<\/strong> possibilities combined with solar power<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heat pump systems for properties<\/strong> optimization with solar energy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lighting of equipment storage areas and stairwells<\/strong> solar power supply<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IoT-based energy monitoring systems<\/strong> that show savings in real time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/aurinkopaneeli-bifacial.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4133\" style=\"width:720px;height:auto\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/aurinkopaneeli-bifacial.jpg 960w, https:\/\/renewe.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/aurinkopaneeli-bifacial-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/renewe.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/aurinkopaneeli-bifacial-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/renewe.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/aurinkopaneeli-bifacial-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/renewe.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/aurinkopaneeli-bifacial-18x10.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Did you know that solar panels work best in cool weather?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bifacial panels and improved efficiency<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bifacial <a href=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/en\/tuotteet\/aurinkopaneelit\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/tuotteet\/aurinkopaneelit\/\">solar panels<\/a> collect solar energy from both sides and are rapidly becoming more common in both the single-family and commercial markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cBifacial panels are particularly suitable for terraces, ground-mounted systems and on lighter roofs,\u201d<\/em> explains Ville Nieminen.<em> \u201cReflection can increase production by up to 10-20 percent.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, the efficiency of standard panels has improved significantly \u2013 in 2025, there will be panels on the market with an efficiency exceeding 23 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Electric car charging is integrated with solar energy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The increasing popularity of electric cars is creating new demand for solar power systems. In 2025, we will see more and more projects where electric cars are <a href=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/en\/tuotteet\/latausasemat\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/tuotteet\/latausasemat\/\">charging stations<\/a> and solar power has been designed from the beginning as part of the property&#039;s energy solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mika Aaltonen points out: \u201cThe battery of an electric car practically acts as a mobile energy storage. Smart <a href=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/en\/tuotteet\/latausasemat\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/renewe.fi\/tuotteet\/latausasemat\/\">charging station<\/a> can charge the car when there is an excess supply of solar electricity, and if necessary, even feed energy back into the house.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This so-called V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) technology is starting to become more common in Finland, and it offers completely new opportunities for energy optimization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Materials responsibility \u2013 managing the entire chain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From battery systems to panels \u2013 responsibility means every step of the chain.
